~Terra Kay Chism

I stumbled across this quotation the other day. It struck a deep chord.

Every New Year is a time for personal assessment. And undoubtedly many of us have a lot of soul-searching to do as we begin to emerge from one of the world’s worst economic crisis for many, many decades.

What have/haven’t we accomplished? What to repeat (and not to repeat) And of course..where do we really want to go?

But this New Year’s, we are not just passing from one year to another. We are entering a new DECADE…

And what a ride it was!  The first decade of the 21st century has transformed many of our lives beyond recognition.  The digital revolution has swept us into a new world. Thanks to social media, we now connect  with each other in ways unimaginable a mere  10 years ago.

Since the year 2000, my personal and professional life-has morphed beyond recognition.  And I am not alone.  I am surrounded by friends and colleagues whose paths in life have taken an abrupt U-turn for a whole host of reasons—work, technology, friends, marriages, poor health, economic crises, children, money…

But no matter where the waves of change have taken you—no matter what beach of life you have landed on, no matter how grim the prospects—you can reconstruct the ‘pieces’ of your life however you want.  All you need is a bit of imagination, a dash of confidence  and the power of perseverance.

Your destiny is yours.  It doesn’t belong to your bank manager. Or your next door neighbor Or your boss.. Or any collective public opinion.

Your next steps in life—even if they are baby steps—are all yours.

But even if your steps are little, make sure your thoughts are big.

Create a Masterpiece.

You are your own sculptor

So go sculpt!

My best wishes to all for a great 2010.
